The eye works because we focuse on different objects because of light that is either reflecting of the object or being emited from the object. smoke/mist- This is a colloid because the solid (coal) goes into the gas (oxygen) as the solid is not spread evenly throughout the dispersion medium (gas)
Smoke is a colloid because it is formed by two phases of matter. Smoke is a thick heavy mixture of gas and solid it is impossible to breathe if you remain in smoke for too long.
